WhatsApp Will Soon Give You Reminders For Unread Messages

WhatsApp currently notifies you when you receive a new chat, including video and voice calls. But what if we told you that the app will soon remind you about unread messages too? WhatsApp is already testing this feature with beta users, and it could be available to everyone soon. Initially, the reminder option was introduced for status updates, but now it appears to be extended to unread messages.

Unlike some recent features, WhatsApp is allowing users to manually enable this reminder tool. You can activate it through the Settings > Notifications > Reminders toggle. To try it out now, you'll need to have WhatsApp beta version 2.24.25.29 on Android.

Once enabled, WhatsApp will send regular alerts for unread messages. According to WaBetaInfo, the reminders will be triggered only for contacts you frequently interact with. After testing it in our beta version, it seems the official rollout might not be too far off.
