Indian cricket star Virat Kohli, alongside his wife Anushka Sharma and their two children, is reportedly planning to relocate from India and settle in London. Kohli's childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, recently revealed that the former captain, who has enjoyed an illustrious cricketing career, will soon be leaving India to start a new chapter in the UK.
In an interview with Dainik Jagran, Rajkumar Sharma shared that Kohli, his wife Anushka Sharma, and their two children—daughter Vamika (born January 2021) and son Akaay (born February 2024)—are preparing for their move to London. According to Sharma, the family will soon leave India and settle in the European city.
"Virat apne baccho aur patni Anushka Sharma ke sath London mein shift hone ki yojna bana rahe hain. Vo bahut jald hi Bharat chor kar waha basne wale hai," Sharma said, confirming the move in the interview published on Thursday. The statement suggests that Kohli’s decision to settle in London will mark a significant transition for the cricketer, who has spent most of his life in India.
Virat Kohli, who hails from Delhi, relocated to Mumbai a few years ago. He married Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma in a private ceremony in Italy in December 2017. Their first child, daughter Vamika, was born in January 2021, followed by the arrival of their son Akaay in February 2024, who was born in London.
This move to London comes after Kohli missed the five-match Test series against England earlier this year, which coincided with the birth of his second child.
While speaking about Kohli's cricketing form, Rajkumar Sharma expressed confidence that the batter’s performance is not a cause for concern. Sharma, who has known Kohli for over two decades, believes that the Indian cricket icon is playing some of the best cricket of his career and predicts that Kohli will score two more centuries in the upcoming Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
“Virat is playing the best cricket of his career. He scored a century in the first Test against Australia. I believe in the upcoming two Tests, he is going to score two more centuries. He has always enjoyed his cricket. His form is not a matter of concern. He knows how to perform in difficult situations and help his side win the match," Sharma commented.
Despite rumors about his potential retirement, Rajkumar Sharma reassured fans that Kohli is still in top form and has a lot of cricket left to play. Sharma emphasized that Kohli is still very fit and not considering retirement anytime soon.
"I think Virat will play for at least five more years. He is definitely going to play for India in the 2027 ODI World Cup. I have known him for the last 26 years, and that's why I can say that there is so much cricket left in him," said Sharma.
With his remarkable fitness and passion for the game, Kohli's fans can look forward to many more years of exceptional cricket from the legendary batter.
