On International Yoga Day 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the national celebrations from Vishakhapatnam, emphasizing Yoga as a path toward peace in a world facing widespread instability and unrest.
"In today’s world filled with tension and instability, Yoga offers a direction of peace. It acts like a pause button—helping humanity breathe, find balance, and feel whole again," said PM Modi during his address on Saturday.
Highlighting Yoga’s global reach and inclusive spirit, PM Modi added:
“Yoga connects. It unites us not just with ourselves but with the world around us.”
“I feel immense pride seeing our Divyang (differently-abled) friends studying Yoga in Braille, astronauts practicing Yoga in space, and children across Indian villages participating in Yoga Olympiads.”
From Navy ships to Everest peaks, from the Sydney Opera House to remote rural schools, Yoga, he said, is practiced by people from every walk of life — proving that Yoga transcends boundaries, background, and abilities.
International Recognition of Yoga Day
Reflecting on the global recognition of June 21 as International Yoga Day, PM Modi recalled the moment India proposed the resolution at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA):
“Within a short time, 175 countries supported the resolution. In today’s divided world, such unity is extraordinary.”
A New Era: Yoga for Humanity 2.0
Concluding his message, PM Modi made a powerful appeal:
“Let this Yoga Day launch Yoga for Humanity 2.0 — where inner peace becomes global policy.”
